AGIAMONDO is the personnel service of the German Catholics for Development Cooperation. In the Civil Peace Service (CPS) we offer development workers a meaningful role working with local development agents.
The CPS is a personnel programme for peace-building and the prevention of violence in crisis and conflict regions. It sets out to promote a world in which conflicts are settled without violence. Working with church-related and civil-social partner organisations in Colombia, AGIAMONDO aims to make a contribution towards civil conflict management and the sustainable and equitable development of the country through peace-building measures.

To provide professional and educational advice and training to our partner organisation, the indigenous governing body Consejo Regional Indigena del Cauca (CRIC), in the field of digital, conflict-sensitive and human rights oriented journalism, we are looking for a

to start as soon as possible.



Your new field of activity

The Consejo Regional Indigena del Cauca (CRIC) in Popayán is the governing body of the indigenous organisations in the Department of Cauca and seeks to strengthen the rights of the indigenous communities through education and health programmes, support in land conflicts, political influence and media work. Cauca is one of the regions in Colombia most affected by the presence of illegal actors, militarisation by the Colombian army, violence and human rights violations.
In particular, the Communications Department supported by the CPS has set itself the task of documenting indigenous communities’ living situation and the violence in the territories and of strengthening its own indigenous forms of communication.
You will have the opportunity to work in the Communications Department of one of the most renowned indigenous organisations in Latin America and to train young journalists and communications experts in the Autonomous Indigenous Intercultural University (UAI-IN) in Popayan. The work is also supported by the Deutsche Welle Akademie DWA.

You will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • You will provide professional and conceptual advice on the development and im-plementation of curriculum at the Faculty of Communication of the Autonomous Indigenous Intercultural University (UAIIN) and will conduct teaching events for indigenous journalists and communications experts on professional reporting and the use of different digital methods and formats.
  • You will offer professional advice, training and support to members of the re-gional indigenous communication network on digital methods.
  • You will advise and assist in the development of content and the creation of communication products of the CRIC Communications Department (radio, news-papers, website, social networks, videos, photos).
  • You will assist in the establishment of a small research and knowledge produc-tion centre for indigenous topics and content with integrated media monitoring, thus helping to raise awareness for the situation of the indigenous population in Cauca.
  • You will be responsible for the proper spending and management of funds local-ly in accordance with the donor and AGIAMONDO guidelines. In doing so, you will work in partnership with the CRIC.

Your profile

  • You have completed a university degree and have several years of professional ex-perience as a journalist, communication scientist, media scientist or similar.
  • You have experience in conveying journalistic knowledge applying participatory methods.
  • You are experienced in dealing with social media and various digital formats, ideally you have already developed social media strategies.
  • You have experience in conflict-sensitive and human rights-oriented journalism.
  • Ideally, you already have experience working in Latin America and have knowledge of indigenous peoples’ situation in Latin America, as well as experience working with indigenous content and structures.
  • You speak and write fluent Spanish.
  • You can act appropriately in a church environment, and identify with and support the goals and concerns of church development and peace-building work with a strong sense of conviction.
  • You are an EU or Swiss citizen.
