The Association for Development Cooperation (AGEH) is the human resources service of German Catholics for Development Cooperation. In the Civil Peace Service (CPS), we offer you the opportunity to perform a meaningful role in collaboration with local peace workers. The CPS is a programme for peacebuilding and the prevention of violence in crisis and conflict regions. It advocates a world in which conflicts are settled without violence and supports partner organisations in all phases of conflicts including conflict prevention, violence mitigation and post-conflict rehabilitation. Together with church and civil-social partners in Central African Republic, the AGEH aims to contribute to civil conflict transformation using CPS peacebuilding measures

To support the educational and awareness-raising work of our partner organisation Centre Catholique Universitaire, at the earliest opportunity, we are looking for a

(Junior) Social scientist for adult education, Bangui, Central African Republic

                    

 

Your new field of activity

The Centre Catholique Universitaire, a Jesuit organisation founded in 2002, aims to create opportunities for students and employees to access competencies beyond local opportunities through its professional and university education programme. In February, the new Jesuit Worldwide Learning (JWL) online English course was launched. Through e-learning and digital information technology, dedicated people will have access to higher education. In addition, the CCU maintains a programme to combat HIV/AIDS, in which accompanied peer leaders raise awareness of sexual health.

You will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • You will support the Catholic University Centre in its process of organisational development, the further development of project management and the establishment of a university structure.
  • You accompany the projects initiated by the CCU within the framework of continuing vocational training.
  • You support trainers and teaching staff in their professional competence and orientation of university work.
  • You accompany the students of the Jesuit Worldwide Learning Programme and the participants of the vocational training.
  • You support the CCU's leaders in the technical implementation of the programme to combat HIV/AIDS.
  • You ensure the proper spending and administration of funds on-site in accordance with the donor guidelines and the specifications of the AGEH. In doing so, you work in partnership with the partner organisation.

Your profile

  • You have completed a university degree in psychology, pedagogy, social work, education or another field relevant to your tasks.
  • You have gathered initial work experience (abroad) in adult education and in accompanying teams, preferably in Africa.
  • Ideally, you have already been able to apply your skills in a university environment and working with students.
  • You are proficient in organizational development instruments and experienced in conflict-sensitive project management.
  • You communicate fluently in written and spoken English and are willing to expand your basic knowledge of French.
  • You identify with the goals and concerns of church development cooperation and peace-building and look forward to working in a Christian organization.
