The Association for Development Cooperation (AGEH) is the human resources service of German Catholics for Development Cooperation. In the Civil Peace Service (CPS), we offer you the opportunity to perform a meaningful role in collaboration with local peace workers. The CPS is a programme for peace-building and the prevention of violence in crisis and conflict regions. It advocates a world in which conflicts are settled without violence and supports partner organisations in all phases of conflicts including conflict prevention, violence mitigation and post-conflict rehabilitation. Together with church and civil-social partners in South Sudan, the AGEH aims to contribute to civil conflict transformation using CPS peace-building measures.

JRS Country Program coordinator (m/f/d), Juba, South Sudan

                    

 

Your new field of activity

With the signing of the new peace agreements in August 2018, South Sudan, independent from Sudan since 2011 and thus the youngest country in the world, has reached an important point in its young history and is raising high hopes.

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is a global humanitarian organisation whose mission is  to accompany, serve and advocate with and on behalf of refugees. JRS enables access to education, provides psychosocial support and promotes the sustainable development of people's independent livelihoods in Yambio and Maban.

 

You will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • You coordinate the programmes work of JRS at the country level in close cooperation with the country and project directors.
  • You advise the partner organisation on a long-term program strategy and accompany it in its organisational development process.
  • You support the further development and implementation of project planning, monitoring and evaluation and conduct trainings for staff on this topic.
  • You build and maintain close working relations with JRS’ partner agencies, as well as with other international development organisations, funding agencies and Church bodies and represent the organisation when requested.
  • You are responsible for the proper spending and administration of funds on-site in accordance with the donor guidelines and the specifications of the AGEH. In doing so, you work in partnership with JRS.

Your profile

  • You have completed an academic degree in the field of Humanitarian Response or Development Cooperation.
  • You have at least two years of work experience in financial administration and project management, preferably in a Non-Governmental Organisation or Community Based Organisation.
  • You have gained work experience in planning, monitoring and evaluation of projects.
  • You communicate fluently in written and spoken English.
  • You identify with the goals and concerns of church development and peace work and support them convincingly. 
  • You are a citizen of the EU or Switzerland.
